Majority Leader Schumer Statement On The Biden Administration’s National Security Supplemental Request

Washington, D.C. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement on the Biden administration’s national security supplemental request:

“The Biden administration’s request sends a clear message to America’s friends and allies that we have your back. This package demonstrates America’s commitment to supporting democracies across the world and above all ensuring that American families are safe here at home. At a time when there’s such division in our country, there is broad bipartisan in the Senate to support the people of Israel and Ukraine, to compete with the Chinese government, and to secure our southern border and fight the scourge of fentanyl.

“I have been working with the administration to ensure Israel has the tools it needs to defend itself – whether that is military, intelligence, or diplomatic assistance. We also must prioritize humanitarian assistance to aid innocent civilians caught in the crosshairs of the violence in both Israel and Gaza and those impacted by Putin’s unjust war on Ukraine. 

“This legislation is too important to wait for the House to settle their chaos. Senate Democrats will move expeditiously on this request, and we hope that our Republican colleagues across the aisle will join us to pass this much-needed funding.”
