Majority Leader Schumer Statement On The Confirmation Of Daniel Werfel To Serve As Commissioner For The Internal Revenue Service

Washington, D.C. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement after the Senate confirmed Daniel Werfel to serve as Commissioner for the Internal Revenue Service:

“With Daniel Werfel as the final piece, the IRS will now have the resources it needs to better serve Americans throughout the country. The Senate Democrats secured the tools needed in the Inflation Reduction Act to implement desperately needed reforms to make the IRS work for American families and I have complete confidence that Mr. Werfel is the man for that daunting and vital job. I know that under Mr. Werfel’s leadership, the IRS will use the additional enforcement resources to make it far more likely ultra-wealthy tax-cheats are not taking advantage of the system and pay their fair share in taxes.
