New York, N.Y. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement on the Biden administration’s new announcement on the first 10 prescription drugs for which Medicare will negotiate lower prices and deliver lower prescription drug costs for millions of Americans:
“For years politicians promised to take on the big drug companies and empower Medicare to negotiate lower drug prices for consumers. With the Inflation Reduction Act Democrats have delivered. Soon millions of Americans will see lower prices on some of the most expensive and widely used prescription drugs.
“The American people have sent Congress a message: reduce costs. And when it comes to prescription drugs, we are delivering for the American people in a very real way.
“I’m proud of the indispensable role Senate Democrats played in crafting and passing the Inflation Reduction Act and believe that the best of it is yet to come.”
