Majority Leader Schumer Statement On The Supreme Court Decision On Emergency Abortion Care

Washington, D.C. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s decision on emergency abortion care following the two-year anniversary of the court repealing Roe v. Wade:

“The MAGA Supreme Court destabilized our country by repealing Roe nearly two years ago, and sent women and healthcare providers spiraling into uncertainty. While today’s ruling is a welcome reprieve, it is limited and temporary. The fact the Supreme Court did not clarify that EMTALA requires emergency treatment in every state will allow the MAGA right to continue their quest to take away health care access for women. As long as MAGA Republicans keep pursuing more and more ways to limit women’s right to choose, Democrats will not stop fighting until that right is fully restored.”
