Majority Leader Schumer Statement On Today’s Supreme Court Decision Allowing The Biden Administration To Enforce Regulations On “Ghost Guns”

New York, N.Y. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement on the Supreme Court allowing rules regulating so-called ghost guns to go into effect. Below is Senator Schumer’s statement:

“Today’s ruling shows Congressional Republicans that total allegiance to the NRA and its allies is not only unpopular with the American people, but not legally sound.

“Last year, the Biden Administration addressed the horrifying reality of ghost guns head on with strong executive authority. But the NRA and Republican special interests perverted our legal system and utilized the anti-Democratic process of forum shopping to get a hold placed on this common sense order.

“However, today justice prevailed when the Supreme Court reversed the hold.

"I have been warning about the dangers of ghost guns for years. Allowing President Biden’s executive order to be fully implemented will save thousands of lives by providing accountability for these otherwise untraceable firearms. It will also help police crackdown on violent crime.”
