WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Senator Brian Schatz (D-Hawai‘i), Chairman of the Senate Democrats' Special Committee on the Climate Crisis, released the following statement following a meeting the committee held with leaders of utility companies from across the country.
“Today our committee heard from utility leaders who are at the center of the clean energy revolution. Across the country, utilities are integrating renewable energy into their grids at levels we thought were impossible just a few years ago, disproving myths about its viability, and showing the world what’s possible when we set a goal and work toward meeting it. We also heard from these leaders about what the federal government can do to help with their progress. As the committee’s work gets into full swing, we will continue to hear from business and community leaders from across the country. Climate change is a planetary emergency. It will take all of us working together to solve it.”
