Schumer, Pelosi Joint Statement on Budget Caps Negotiations

Washington, D.C. – Today, Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement after a meeting with Congressional leaders and Trump administration officials to discuss budget caps negotiations:

“Democrats are committed to working on a bipartisan basis to avert devastating cuts of the sequester.  We continue to insist that there be parity in increases between defense and non-defense, and that we adequately fund critical domestic priorities, including the Census and our commitments to our heroic veterans.

“Conversations among the Congressional leaders and Trump administration officials were productive. We look forward to continuing to meet to discuss how we can best address the needs of hard-working families, as we again work across the aisle to avert sequestration.”
