Schumer Responds to Chairman Brady on SALT Deduction

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer released the following statement in response to Chairman Brady's comments on Fox News Sunday in which he said the House would not pass a tax bill that fully eliminates the SALT deduction, as the Senate bill would do:

"The House's so-called 'compromise' would be saying to the middle class we'll only chop off four of your fingers instead of all five.

"Both the House and the Senate bills would raise taxes on millions of middle-class families, particularly in the suburbs, while providing a huge giveaway to corporations and the wealthy.

"Republicans should go back to the drawing board and fully restore the SALT deduction."
