Schumer Statement Following House Passage of Legislation Protecting Americans with Pre-Existing Conditions

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer today released the following statement regarding the House’s passage of Legislation Protecting Americans with Pre-Existing Conditions:

“The American people want us to protect their health care and lower their costs, and today, the Democratic-led House passed a bipartisan package that would do exactly that. This legislation combats the Trump administration’s health care sabotage in crucial ways—it shores up protections for people with pre-existing conditions, it reverses the Trump administration’s horrible junk plan expansion, and it helps more people get covered. If Senate Republicans are truly committed to protecting people with pre-existing conditions like so many of them claimed to last fall, they will back this much-needed legislation. Leader McConnell must put an end to his shameful, damaging legislative graveyard—which he's created on behalf of the special interests—and bring this consequential, uncontroversial legislation to the floor for debate and a vote, immediately.”
