Washington, D.C. – Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) released the following statement today after President Biden signed into law the Congressional Review Act resolution to reinstate methane emissions standards to protect public health and tackle the climate crisis:
“When the Democratic Majority in the Senate voted in the Spring to restore the methane-reducing rules, it was one of the most significant climate actions the Senate has taken in more than a decade. It was the first but far from the last piece of major climate legislation the Senate will pass this year.
“Reducing methane emissions is not the only thing we need to do to fight climate change, but it’s a very significant part, so I’m proud the Senate passed this legislation and the president is signing it into law today.”
