Schumer Statement On President Trump’s Executive Order On Immigration

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer today released the following statement regarding the executive order on immigration signed by President Trump:

“It’s a relief that the president has reversed himself and recognized the cruelty of his policy of separating children from their parents. While the executive order doesn’t reference the families already ripped apart, I hope and expect that the administration will be able to quickly reunite these children with their parents.

“I also hope this represents a turning point and that the president will stop blaming others for problems he creates and start fixing them himself. He can start with correcting the problems that this executive order will create, and should also undo his DACA order, which has put so many young people in limbo.”
