Schumer Statement On Report Detailing “Dire Outcomes” For Military Families If GOP Refuses To Stop The Trump Administration’s Plan To Steal Funds For Military Construction Projects To Pay For Border Wall

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer today released the following statement following the report that there will be “dire outcomes” for military families if Republicans refuse to terminate the president’s emergency declaration and stop the Trump administration’s plan to steal funds for military construction projects in order to pay for the border wall:

“No surprise: stealing $3.6 billion from the Department of Defense for an ineffective, expensive southern border wall weakens America’s national security and puts the health, safety and education of military personnel and their families lives at risk. Ending the legally dubious national emergency is the fastest way to stop the reckless cuts and restore funding for these U.S. military projects. Republicans must join Democrats in voting to terminate the president’s emergency declaration and support our service members."
