Washington, D.C. – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer today issued the following statement after the SBA IG released a report highlighting deficiencies in how the Small Business Administration implemented the Paycheck Protection Program. The report came at the request of Leader Schumer, Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Ranking Member Ben Cardin (D-MD), and Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Ranking Member Sherrod Brown (D-OH):
“The Inspector General’s review makes clear that the Trump administration must immediately fix the Paycheck Protection Program to help the truly small businesses that have so far not received the help they need. SBA must do more to stop the special treatment for well-connected big business at the expense of legitimate small business struggling to stay afloat and support their workers during this pandemic.”
