Schumer Statement On Senate Passage Of The SFC Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act

Washington, D.C.   Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) today released the following statement on today’s passage of the SFC Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act:

“Today’s passage of the SFC Heath Robinson Honoring Our PACT Act is an essential step towards breaking down the barriers veterans face in receiving their well-earned benefits once they return home and ensuring that future veterans get fairer treatment and the care they deserve,” said Leader Schumer.

“Since 9/11, nearly three and a half million veterans have been exposed to toxins including burn pits in the line of duty, and for too long, bureaucratic rules have forced many of them to carry the burdens of complications from toxic exposure alone. And that goes for our nation’s older veterans as well –  including those exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnamwho will finally be able to get their long-awaited care they need.

Every breath these veterans take is a reminder of their sacrifice for our country, and today’s vote is a guarantee that their country has their back.”

“To the men and women who answered their nation’s call to arms, who put their lives on the line to protect American freedom and democracy around the world, today, the Senate has stepped up to take care of you and to make sure you can live healthy and dignified lives.”
