Schumer Statement On The Trump Administration’s Latest Proposal To Gut Medicaid And Take Away Health Care Coverage From Millions Of Americans

Washington, D.C. – Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer released the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s latest proposal to gut Medicaid and take away health care coverage from millions of Americans:

“President Trump has once again broken his promise to the American people and continued his relentless sabotage of our health care system. Even though he vowed not to cut Medicaid, today’s announcement by the Trump administration is just another attempt to take away Americans’ health care. Make no mistake: this block grant guidance will allow states to cut benefits, weaken beneficiary protections, and limit access to affordable care. It is clear that the Trump administration will stop at nothing to achieve its goal of dismantling our safety net programs and leave millions of vulnerable Americans without health care coverage.”
