Schumer Statement On Trump Administration’s Expected Proposal To Weaken Clean Air Protections

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer today released the following statement in response to the Trump administration’s expected proposal to weaken clean air protections:

“The Trump administration’s weakening of clean air protections is yet another disgraceful giveaway to corporate polluters at the expense of the public’s health, our environment, and the fight to combat climate change. The current rules represent a decades-long fight against air pollution to reduce these harmful emissions that many of the oil and gas companies are even in favor of. Now President Trump wants the federal government to turn a blind eye and let polluters get away with pumping poison into our air. Democrats will keep up the fight to protect the health of our families and our planet.”
