Reid Statement On Meeting With President Bush About Economics Stimulus Package

Washington, DCSenate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada made the following statement today following a meeting with President Bush and bipartisan, bicameral Congressional leaders about developing a bipartisan economic stimulus plan:

“This week’s downturn in the global markets demonstrates how urgently we need to act to revive our nation’s faltering economy.  The American public expects Congress and the Administration to work together to quickly pass an economic stimulus package that is timely, temporary and targeted to those who need it most.

“I am hopeful that we will be able to reach agreement on a bipartisan stimulus package soon.”
