Reid Statement On Northern Illinois University Tragedy
Washington, DC—Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made the following statement on the shooting at Northern Illinois University:
“Yesterday, the Northern Illinois University community was struck by a tragic act of violence. We can offer no solace or explanation for the heartbreak they now endure. We can offer only our prayers and perhaps some small measure of comfort in knowing that our entire nation shares the burden of their terrible grief.”

The Senate will convene at 9:30 a.m. and proceed to a period of morning business until 11:00 a.m., with the time equally divided and controlled between the two Leaders or their designees.
At 11:00 a.m., the Senate will resume consideration of the House Message with respect to H.R.1586 [Legislative vehicle for the Education Jobs Fund and FMAP] with 20 minutes for debate equally divided and controlled between Senators Baucus and DeMint, or their designees.
